"A library is a true fairyland, a very palace of delight, a haven of repose from the storms and troubles of the world. Rich and poor can enjoy it alike, for here, at least, wealth gives no advantage."
Sir John Lubbock
"Can you imagine life without libraries? Neither can I. Hermione’s heart might simply cease to beat at the mere thought. Yet that’s exactly what we’re going to get if we don’t stand up and support them more. Over time, we have come to take libraries for granted, to think of them as a fact of life, and if we aren’t careful it will be too late before we realize just how wrong we were."
This library, completed in 1744, was modeled in the Baroque style after the Austrian National Library, Just outside the library there is an inscription reading “In quo omnes thesauri sapientiae et scientiae,” which translates to “In which are stored all treasures of knowledge and science.”
